How to rehearse with Act-on-cue

Rehearsing with Act-on-cue helps you memorise lines, practise scenes, and refine your performance - even when you're working solo. Here's a step-by-step guide to get started.

Step 1: Import your script

Start by uploading your own material. Tap Import PDF and select your script file. The app will scan the document and prepare it for rehearsal automatically.

Step 2: Assign roles

Once your script is ready, you’ll be able to assign roles. Choose which character you want to rehearse as. Then go through the remaining characters and decide how they’ll be voiced. You can use AI voices or, if you prefer, record your own voice for more control. These recordings are editable, so you can always fine-tune the delivery later.

Step 3: Set your preferences

Before you begin rehearsing, adjust the settings to suit your style. You can choose whether to display your full script, only your lines, or just cue lines with gaps to help test your memory. You can also set how fast the lines are read and how long the pauses are between each cue.

Step 4: Start rehearsal

Tap Rehearse in the top right corner and let the scene play out. The AI (or your own recordings) will read every character’s lines, except for the role you’re playing. Speak your lines out loud as you go - just like in a real rehearsal.

Step 5: Repeat and refine

Rehearse as many times as you like. Try different line readings, explore emotional shifts, or focus on memorisation. You can also add custom pauses to the AI voice between lines, giving you more space to think or deliver your next cue. The more you practise, the more confident and natural your performance will become.
