Customize your rehearsal

This is where you make the rehearsal process your own.

Open your script and select a character to play pressing the left button in the control panel at the bottom of the screen.

Click the Settings icon in the control panel at the bottom of the screen to open the settings popover, where you can customize every part of your session in one place.

At the top, the Reader section holds playback speed, "Cue lines only" (skip non-cue dialogue), auto loop, and stay-in-scene.

If you're rehearsing in Perform mode and your character isn't the first to speak, you can set a countdown timer to prepare before your scene partner's line, in the Timer section (this section only appears in Perform mode - Listen sessions don't show it). This countdown can be adjusted from 0 to 60 seconds before the first line. To set a pause after a specific line instead, click Make edits, click on the line you want to edit, and set its pause there.

If you're focusing on memorisation, turn on Line Learning. Choose Words or Letters, and how many are visible per line (1, 2, or 3). Fewer visible words or letters means more challenge. See Learn lines for more on line learning modes.

The Listen group controls how your own lines are handled when you run a free Listen session: read aloud for you, left as a silent gap, or a mix of both, plus how long that gap lasts. The Perform group has settings for the paid, speech-recognition mode: short cue, eager reader, and word tracking (highlighting words as they're spoken).

Every character already has a voice assigned automatically. If you'd like a different voice for a character, open the Characters tab in the right sidebar and choose from the available voice partners. Our diverse range includes various accents and unique voice qualities to bring your scene to life. To learn the difference between Dramatic, Consistent, and Record It Myself types, see Understanding voice types.

Finally, the Appearance section at the bottom of the settings popover lets you adjust text size (Small/Medium/Large/XL), turn on a wider page layout, and set a highlight colour for your character's name and lines.
