Option 2: Paste or type your script

If your script is in an email or text file, you can paste the text directly. From your dashboard, tap New Script and choose the option to start from scratch. You can either paste your scene directly into the editor or begin typing it out line by line.

Review and fix formatting

review-and-fix

Once your script is loaded, take a moment to scroll through and check that everything looks right. If a line wasn't recognised properly, for example, if dialogue is marked as action or a character name is missing its tag, you can tap on it and reassign the correct type.

assign-line-types

Each line in your script should be labelled as one of the following:

  • Heading - scene headings (e.g., INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY)
  • Action - physical description or stage direction
  • Character - the name of the person speaking
  • Dialogue - the actual line that character says
  • Parenthetical - instructions under the character's name (e.g., angrily or beat)
  • Transition - cues like CUT TO: or FADE IN:

Make sure character names are spelled the same throughout and that each line of dialogue is correctly linked to the right speaker.

For detailed formatting rules, see Script formatting.

Save and continue

When you're happy with the formatting, save the script. It's now ready for you to assign roles, select voices, and set your preferred rehearsal style.
