How to Use the AI Reader

The AI reader in Act On Cue allows you to bring your scene partners to life—even when you’re rehearsing alone. Each character in your script (except your own) can be assigned an AI voice, giving you natural-sounding cues and more realistic dialogue flow. Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Enter Rehearse Mode

After your script is set up and saved, tap Rehearse. This will open the interactive rehearsal screen, where the AI reader becomes active.

Step 2: Open the Voice Settings

Tap the settings icon to access voice controls. You’ll see all characters in your script listed here. The role you’re rehearsing won’t need a voice assigned, but the rest can be voiced by the AI reader.

Step 3: Assign AI Voices

Tap on any character (other than your own) to open the voice menu. Browse the available AI options—each one offers a distinct accent, tone, or delivery style. Use the play button to preview how each voice sounds before selecting one for that character.

Step 4: Start Rehearsing with AI

With voices assigned, begin your rehearsal. The AI reader will handle every role except yours, delivering lines with pacing that mirrors real interaction. Combined with pause settings and visibility options, it creates a flexible, actor-friendly space for solo work.
