Getting Started with Act On Cue: Feature Overview
Act On Cue is a rehearsal companion built for actors who want to learn lines, rehearse scenes, and sharpen their performance with the help of modern technology. Whether you're prepping for an audition, a performance, or a class, the app gives you powerful tools to streamline your workflow and focus on the craft.
Creating an account is simple—you can sign up with your email or link your Google account. Once you're logged in, your projects, preferences, and rehearsal history are stored securely and available across all devices. That means you can switch between your phone, tablet, or desktop without losing progress.
Features
Scripts & Uploads
When you log in to Act On Cue, you’ll start by creating your own script. Simply click on “Create a Script” and choose how you want to get started.
You can begin with a blank project, paste in your own text, or import a PDF.
If you upload a script, the app will scan it, identify character names, and automatically format it for rehearsal—so you can jump straight into learning your lines or running a scene.
Rehearse with an AI Scene Partner
One of the app’s most powerful features is the AI scene partner. To activate it, click on Rehearse Mode, then tap the settings icon. From there, you can select your character and assign one of the available AI voices to the other characters in the scene.
These voices are expressive, realistic, and come in a variety of styles and accents, allowing you to match the tone and energy of your scene. This feature lets you rehearse out loud, in real time, without needing a scene partner. You can also fine-tune the delivery style and playback speed to suit your personal rehearsal pace.
Memorisation and Cueing Options
To start memorising your lines, click on Rehearse, then open the Line Learning settings. Here, you can choose between two cue options:
- 3 Words – shows the first three words of each line
- 3 Letters – shows just the first three letters of each word
These modes help you practise recall gradually, without revealing the full line. Use them to ease into memorisation or test how well you know your part. Switch between options anytime as you build confidence.
Flexible Rehearsal Settings
Rehearsal isn’t one-size-fits-all, and Act On Cue gives you full control over your session. You can adjust pause lengths between lines, mute your own lines to run the scene uninterrupted, or loop specific sections to drill more difficult passages. It’s ideal for working through complex scenes or preparing for cold reads where timing is key.
Voice Recording and Custom Audio
If you prefer to use your own voice instead of the AI scene partner, you can record your lines directly in the app. This is especially useful if you want to rehearse with a specific tone or delivery—or if you're preparing scenes with a particular rhythm in mind.
Once recorded, you can edit or replace the audio as needed, giving you full control over how each character sounds. Playback lets you run the scene with your custom voice tracks, review your performance, or share it with a coach for feedback.
Credits and Access
When you first sign up, you’ll receive 5,000 free credits to explore the app’s features. Credits are used when you rehearse with AI-generated voices. Once your free credits run out, you can top up anytime by clicking “Buy Credits.”
For just $20, you’ll get enough credits for approximately 50 minutes of AI-powered rehearsal time—plenty of space to run scenes, test different takes, and refine your performance.
