How to Learn Your Lines Effectively in Act On Cue

Learning lines is more than just memorising words—it’s about knowing when to speak, how to respond, and staying fully present in the scene. Act On Cue gives you the tools to build that confidence on your own, with customisable display settings and AI scene partners that help you move from reading to full recall.

Step 1: Import and Assign Your Script

Start by importing your script into the app. Once it’s loaded, assign your character so the system knows which lines you’ll be performing. For the remaining roles, choose AI voices to act as your scene partners. These voices will cue your entrances and help you rehearse in real-time.

Step 2: Choose a Line Visibility Setting

To start learning your lines, head into Rehearse and tap the settings icon. Here, you can choose how much of your dialogue you want visible on screen. If you’re just beginning, you might keep your full lines in view. But to help move toward memorisation, you can reduce visibility to:

  • The first three words of each line, giving you a helpful nudge without the full text.
  • Or just the first three letters of each word, which sharpens your recall while still offering subtle cues.

You can switch between these modes at any time as you become more confident.

Step 3: Rehearse with AI Playback

Once your visibility settings are in place, tap Rehearse. The AI reader will voice all the other characters, giving you natural, timed cues while you perform your lines aloud. The script will scroll in real time, following your delivery and highlighting each part of the scene.

Step 4: Repeat and Adjust

The more you run the scene, the more your lines will stick. You can rehearse multiple times with different settings—starting with three-word prompts, moving to letters, then switching to cue-only mode. Each round helps reinforce timing, delivery, and memorisation without needing a live partner.
