Select an AI Reader

Choosing the right voice can make a big difference in how your scene feels during rehearsal. With Act On Cue, you can assign a unique AI voice to each character in your script, giving you a more dynamic and natural read—even when you're rehearsing solo. Here's how to select and preview voices before running your scene.

Step 1: Open Rehearse Mode

Once your script is formatted and saved, tap Rehearse. This will open the rehearsal view where you’ll see the characters listed and your rehearsal settings.

Step 2: Tap the Settings Icon

In the rehearsal view, tap the settings icon to access voice options. Here, you’ll see a list of all the characters in your scene. The character you’re assigned to will be marked clearly—you won’t assign a voice to that one, since you’ll be speaking those lines yourself.

Step 3: Choose a Voice for Each Character

For every other role, tap the character name and open the voice selection menu.

You’ll see a wide range of AI voices available, each with its own tone, accent, or vocal quality. Use the play button next to each voice to preview how it sounds before making your choice.

Step 4: Confirm and Close Settings

Once you’ve picked a voice for a character, it will automatically be saved. Repeat the process for any other characters you'd like to assign. When you're ready, close the settings menu to return to the rehearsal view.

Step 5: Rehearse with Your Selected Voices

Now you're set. Each character will be read aloud using the voice you assigned. You can always go back into the settings and change voices at any time—even mid-rehearsal—if you want to try a different tone or accent.
