How to Use the Platform for Self-Tapes
Act On Cue can support your self-tape process by helping you prepare and deliver a polished performance with a responsive, AI-powered scene partner. While the app itself doesn’t record video, it functions like a teleprompter—providing cues, highlighting your lines, and pacing the scene so you can focus fully on your performance.
Step 1: Load and Rehearse Your Script
Make sure your script is properly formatted and assigned. Once that’s done, head into Rehearse mode and choose your character. The app will handle the rest—cueing the AI voice for your scene partner and displaying your lines clearly onscreen.
Step 2: Set Up for Performance
Open the settings menu and fine-tune your rehearsal experience. You can:
- Assign an AI voice to each character.
- Adjust timing with optional pauses (up to 5 seconds).
- Choose what to display on screen—your full lines, three words, or even just three letters per word—to help you stay on track without relying on the full text.
When you're ready, tap Rehearse. The app will follow your voice and alternate between your lines and the AI reader’s, just like in a real back-and-forth scene.
Step 3: Record Using Your Camera or Phone
To capture your self-tape, set up an external camera or use your phone. The app doesn’t include in-app recording, so you'll be filming yourself while the app runs in the background—cueing lines and displaying text like a teleprompter.
As you speak, the app listens and triggers the AI reader’s responses in real time. This natural pacing allows you to deliver your performance smoothly without needing to control playback or press pause.
Step 4: Rehearse, Refine, Repeat
Run through your scene multiple times to get comfortable. The combination of live cues and adjustable visibility means you can shift from memorisation to performance seamlessly. Once you’re ready, record your best take with confidence.
